Lots of Sunderland fans have been reacting as the Black Cats have announced on their official Twitter page that they will be hosting Port Vale at the Stadium of Light in the Papa John’s Trophy in the round of sixteen.
As per the tweet, the tie will be played in the week commencing on the 11th January, as SAFC will be aiming to get all the way to the final and win it.
Will Sunderland win silverware this season?
Yes

No

The draw seems like a very favourable one on paper for Lee Johnson’s team, given that the Vale are a division below Sunderland in the EFL League Two and currently sit in 11th spot in the table on 22 points after 16 games at the moment (BBC).
On the other hand, the Black Cats currently sit in ninth place in the League One standings having taken 24 points from their opening 15 matches, leaving them just three off of the play-off positions (BBC).

Whilst there are no certainties with @SunderlandAFC we couldn't have asked for a better draw. No excuses for not making the last 8.
