Sunderland slumped to a surprise defeat last night in Sky Bet League One as Bristol Rovers beat them 2-0 at the Memorial Stadium down in the south-west of the country.
The Black Cats went into the game locked on points with several of their promotion rivals and, with the likes of Portsmouth and Fleetwood playing one another at Fratton Park last night, it was a golden chance to make some hay.
Indeed, they were up against a free-falling Rovers side that had lost to Southend United at the weekend and, yet, they could not get the victory – conceding twice and scoring none.
A bad night at the office for Phil Parkinson’s men, then, and fans were quick to take to Twitter to share their disappointment at the result after the full-time whistle.
Let’s take a look at some of what has been said on social media after the defeat to the Gas:
Think we’re gonna struggle for that 100 point target now Stewart

Try something different. Youth players. They can’t be as big bottle jobs as some of the players out there now. Get benji in for next game at least. And why is Declan john no where to be seen. SORT IT OUT
