Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has reportedly told League One bosses that the Black Cats are looking at administration due to losses caused by the current pandemic.

Donald is far from a popular figure on Wearside. The fans are clearly fed up with the owner, who was one of the “stars” of the second series of Netflix’s Sunderland Til I Die, and they are desperate for him to leave the club. There has been plenty of interest in the north-east outfit, with Juan Sartori and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus closing in on the purchase of the club.
Donald, who was against the EFL bail-out package as he believed bigger sides like Sunderland should have had a larger share of the money, has now dropped this bombshell, which has not gone down well at all with the club’s supporters.

It’s a disgrace, Donald’s grip on our club is likened to the EU on Brexit . I must admit I often laughed at @richenergyceo tweets in the past but I really think your our best option now . ⚽️🙏👍
