Sunderland could lose £250,000 per game if the 2020/21 League One season continues to be played behind closed doors.
After the curtailment of last season, Sunderland fans were left with much disappointment as they witnessed their side finish eighth and fail to gain a promotion place.

A second consecutive failure to go from League One to the Championship has put a huge amount of pressure on the shoulders of manager Phil Parkinson, despite securing four points out of six so far this season.
With the pandemic still causing problems across the United Kingdom, fans in the English Football League now look set to miss out on attending games throughout the season.
Initial hopes had emerged that fans would be gradually allowed to return to fixtures from October 1, but government minister Michael Gove has confirmed that those plans are now at a standstill due to the rise of cases across the country.
Sunderland Echo have now looked into the financial problems that could be caused by Gove’s announcement.
Using data from the Black Cats’ recent accounts which cover 2018/2019, the report goes on to add that £250,000 per game could be lost due to fans not being in attendance.
This is a significant loss each week and could have drastic circumstances on future player wages and transfers.
Sunderland must ensure that they gain promotion this season, or they will find themselves in a real sticky situation, both on and off the pitch.
