A lot of Sunderland fans are not happy with the club’s tweet which congratulated Fortuna Sittard after the Eredivise side thrashed the Black Cats 10-0 in Leyton Orient’s FIFA 20 tournament ‘#UltimateQuaranTeam’.
The tournament was set up to add some competition back into football fans lives after recent events has caused the game across the globe to be postponed.
Fans flooded to the tweet after the thrashing and there were many comments asking, perhaps jokingly, for owner Stewart Donald to leave the club. His time in charge of the Wearside outfit has been a rollercoaster since he took over at the start of last season.
They suffered two losses at Wembley last term in the Checkatrade Trophy and the Play-off Final and in the new Netflix documentary surrounding the club, Donald is seen saying, via the Daily Mail, “We get an investor or we have to sell”.
He also publicly came out and said he wanted to sell the club after Christmas, via The Chronicle, but for now remains in charge until a deal with a potential suitor is agreed.
Here’s what fans had to say after the virtual loss:
