Sunderland supporters group Red & White Army have opened a survey for fans ahead of an Emergency General Meeting on July 25.
The survey being conducted by the Red & White Army asks fans to give their opinion on several matters, including:
- Stewart Donald’s ownership
- A potential takeover
- Season ticket refunds and renewals
The answers from the survey will hand the supporters group a talking point ahead of July 25th’s ‘Emergency General Meeting’, which could see the group be transformed into a Supporters’ Trust (as per Sunderland Echo).
Current Black Cats owner Stewart Donald has been under heavy criticism of late after the club failed to gain promotion from League One for a second successive season.
Much the focal point of Netflix series Sunderland Til I Die, Donald has been a big part of the latest developments at the Wearside club, taking over from Ellis Short before revealing that he wanted to sell the club less than 20 months in to his tenure.
First team manager Phil Parkinson will have his work cut out this summer to develop a squad capable of bouncing back and improving on their eighth-placed finish in League One, but many fans have seemingly lost all patience with Donald.
The patience of Sunderland supporters has been severely tested over the last three years, with successive relegations from the Premier League to the third tier and two consecutive failures to escape from League One – this year they failed to even make the play-offs.
A revelation of late from potential new owner Sammy Yu over his failure to receive a response from Donald will also add to the countless question marks around the current situation and it does seem that it is going to be a long summer ahead with so much uncertainty about the club right now.
