Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are getting geared up for the big clash today against bitters rivals, Liverpool.
United currently sit in second, with Liverpool just behind them in third and if the Red Devils want to solidify that place they need a win today to put some distance between them.
Jose Mourinho will be wary of Liverpool’s attack, and just what they can do to a team should they ease off the gas pedal, or go toe-to-toe with them. However unpopular the tactics that have been used against Liverpool in recent times, Mourinho knows that he has to keep them at bay.
He may opt to pack the midfield out and play a wing-back formation or go for pace on the counter. Either way, our landlord feels that while Paul Pogba is still trying to find his best form again after a little rocky patch. Mourinho would be better served opting for an alternative option, and here are his TWO players…
Michael Carrick

The retiring captain may see his last chance to play Liverpool as enough motivation to roll back the years and boss the engine room once more. Carrick in the centre of the park spraying balls around and generally breaking play up would be a great tactical move for Mourinho, our regulars think.
Having a link between defence and attack would be something that will be needed this lunchtime if United are to come out with the three points.
Marcus Rashford

Mourinho has another trick up his sleeve and he could go for the raw pace of Marcus Rashford either upfront on the flank. Either way, Rashford provides an outlet and someone with pace to kick-start the counter-attack, as well as give Liverpool’s leaky defence something to think about.
Used correctly and wisely, Rashford could be the key to unlocking Liverpool’s dodgy defence and bringing home the win.
