Surely these 2 Everton players need to start vs Stoke City later

Everton fans here in the Tavern are hoping their side can build on last weekend’s victory, after putting in some inconsistent performances over the past couple of months.

The Toffees recorded a much-needed win against Brighton and Hove Albion last time out in the Premier League, in a dominant performance that saw Cenk Tosun find the target once again. Although, if the past couple of months are anything to go by then Goodison Park might not experience another win for a while, after failing to produce consistent results so far this season.

However, Everton face a trip to relegation contenders Stoke City in today’s Premier League encounter, with Paul Lambert’s side hoping to secure their first win since the 20th of January against Huddersfield. Although, many of our local Evertonians believe that this could be a walk in the park if they manage to get the first goal, as the Potters have been known to crumble under pressure.

Therefore, here’s a look at TWO Everton players that need to start vs Stoke City later on today…

Davy Klaassen

Davy Klassen has had a horror first season in the English Premier League after making the move from AFC Ajax, as he’s been linked with an exit in the summer transfer window.

However, he seems to have worked his way back into Sam Allardyce’s plans after making his first appearance since September in their last match, as he’ll be playing for a future at Goodison Park from here on in.

Therefore, Davy Klassen needs to start against a struggling Stoke City side to build up his match fitness, as the Dutchman has the ability to become a star in the Premier League if he’s given the opportunity.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The former Sheffield United striker has been sensational since making the move to Goodison Park back in the summer of 2016, with eight goals and six assists to his name so far this season.

However, the 20-year-old has failed to nail down a permanent starting place under Sam Allardyce, as an excellent performance is often followed up with a less than convincing one.

Although, Dominic Calvert-Lewin should still be gifted a start against Stoke City in today’s encounter, as he’ll look to stake his claim on a permanent place in the side from here on in until the end of the season.
