The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side will sign quality, rather than quantity this summer.
In recent years, Chelsea’s usually-solid transfer policy has changed tactic, with the club instead focussing on signing a plethora of players that can help build out the squad. Of course, squad depth is great – but a reduction in general quality is not.
That was certainly the story of last summer, with a handful of players including Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta moving to Stamford Bridge and failing to make an impact.
Now, it seems that the latter could be on his way out.
Generally speaking, Zappacosta – who is rated at £18 million by Transfer Markt – had to settle for a backup role last season, with Victor Moses often preferred in his place.
