Many Everton fans have been left fuming over comments which emerged from Rafael Benitez ahead of their game at Brentford on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the fixture, the Spaniard has shed some light on his striking options (via Patrick Boyland), saying: “We have two experienced players in Tosun and Rondon available and we have a young player in Simms. Normally these games are better for experienced players.”

Given that Salomon Rondon has not yet scored so far this season, and Cenk Tosun has not even played, it certainly seems strange that Benitez would consider them over Ellis Simms, a young striker who’s hungry for his chance to impress and has scored an abundance of goals at youth level at Goodison Park.

With Everton having not won a match since September, surely it is time for Benitez to change things up and give youngsters like Simms an opportunity.
