‘Tell Coutinho he’s not allowed in’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter react to Anfield update

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that Anfield will be used to host an international friendly match between Brazil and Croatia as both sides look to warm-up for the World Cup in Russia. The club broke the news via their Twiter account, with a link to to the Liverpool website for more details.

For a number of Liverpool fans, this is an opportunity to see Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino playing together at Anfield again, and to make things more interesting, they’ll be up against Dejan Lovren. The Reds propping our bar up have given a mixed reaction to the news, whilst some are looking forward to seeing their former little Brazilian return to Merseyside, others are sceptical and would rather Coutinho didn’t feature.

Brazil go into the World Cup as one of the favourites, alongside nations such as Spain, Germany and France, however, South American teams have a poor record when the tournament is held in Europe. The only time a South American side has won the World Cup when hosted in Europe is Brazil themselves, in 1958 when Sweden hosted the tournament. As a nation, Brazil will be hoping their Anfield prep can get them used to the milder climate that they’ll be playing football in as they look to go on and secure their sixth World Cup.
