There is no reason for the Everton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern to be down as Ronald Koeman’s recruitment this summer is well underway having invested heavily already this summer.
The club spent big to bring 23-year-old goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to Goodison Park last week and that was followed through with the acquisition of Dutch attacking midfielder Davy Klaassen from giants Ajax.
It is obviously clear that Koeman is strengthening the areas that need to be reinforced over the coming months as he will attempt to mount a push for the top six, or even challenge for Champions League qualification.
However, Everton could do with using some of their academy talent, just like they have done in recent times and our fans by the bar are ecstatic with the current crop of youngsters on the fringes of first-team football.

Kieran Dowell
The uncertainty over Ross Barkley’s future at Everton is definitely not something Ronald Koeman wants, and if he does allow the midfielder to depart then a satisfying back-up to Davy Klaassen is teenager Kieran Dowell.
The 19-year-old was one of the stars in the Football Transfer Tavern a couple of weeks ago when he was among the England under-20 side that lifted the World Cup.
Dowell has certainly made an impression for the Toffees’ reserves having featured in 22 outings for them last season – scoring five goals and earning seven assists – so it is no wonder why some Everton supporters rate the young talent so highly.
Matthew Foulds
Ronald Koeman’s defence is ageing drastically as years go past and he is yet to replace the likes of Phil Jagielka, which is vital for the club to move forward and have a fresh approach next term.
Our Everton-mad bar man is keen to see more game time by the talent already plying their trade in the academy and that is why he suggests supporters keep a look out for defender Matthew Foulds.
His versatility isn’t his trademark, the 19-year-old can play at left-back or centre-half, but it is his consistency that gets the scout’s attention and he has already tasted senior football having played a number of games for Bury prior to his move to Merseyside.
