The 2 Everton wonderkids who could have a major impact on the club’s 17/18 season

Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are getting really excited about the current squad of wonderkids coming through the ranks…

Everton’s academy is looking very strong at the minute and with the newly labelled ‘Golden Generation’ coming through into the first team, the future is also looking very good.

Of course, Goodison Park has become a hub of young talent in recent years, with top players like John Stones and Ross Barkley really improving at the Merseyside-based club. But there is so much more to come.

Following in the steps of Wayne Rooney, our landlord thinks that these two youngsters will be looking to make the same kind of impact in the football world and the Premier League…

Matthew Pennington

The centre back lived any boyhood dream by scoring his first goal against their greatest rival last season.

22-year-old Pennington has been hugely backed for greatness by former Everton player and academy boss David Unsworth.

His bravery and quality were on show at loan spells to Coventry and Walsall which caught the eye of the Everton boss Ronald Koeman.

Pennington is aiming to establish himself in the first team and help with their Europa League campaign, and he is certainly going to impress.

Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman made an immediate impact last season. Coming on as a substitute against Manchester City and bagging his first goal on his debut.

He likes to play in the number 10 role and can also play left or right wing to vary his attacking options.

The 19-year-old has flair and his style of play will excite Everton fans and could easily fit into Koeman’s young and energetic squad.

Lookman has had a meteoric rise in football and it doesn’t look like letting up.
