The 2 signings that could make-or-break Chelsea’s 2017/18 season

Chelsea look to be heading for the Premier League title under Antonio Conte in what has been an excellent season for the Blues and their fiery Italian manager.

Conte’s infectious behaviour has transcended onto the fans who visit us here in the Tavern, and this week the Blues fans have been coming in in their droves, celebrating last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final win over Spurs.

With the title almost wrapped up, much of the talk has turned to who the club might look to sign in the summer, with the Blues likely to be armed with yet another war chest courtesy of their wealthy owner.

Our landlord thinks a few additions could well shape their season next time out, and we agree with him, so with that in mind, here are TWO summer signings that could make or break Chelsea’s 2017/18 season…

Virgil Van Dijk

The big Southampton defender has missed much of this campaign with injury, but he is going to be in big demand this summer.

Arguably one of the Premier League’s best defenders on his day, the Blues need someone to replace the outgoing John Terry, and Van Dijk could well be that man.

Alvaro Morata

With the future of Diego Costa still firmly up in the air, the signing of Madrid man Morata could prove pivotal.

The Spaniard has worked with Conte before, and could become the main man at the Bridge if given the chance. A top player, Morata would certainly be an asset to Chelsea – even if Costa was to stay.
