Arsenal supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are finally feeling somewhat happy, after the club downed Middlesbrough 2-1 on Monday evening.
It certainly wasn’t a stellar Gunners performance but the main thing was getting the three points, which Arsene Wenger’s side managed to do.
Wenger made the bold decision to play three at the back, with Gabriel, Rob Holding and Laurent Koscielny the chosen trio that made up the new-look Arsenal formation.
Our landlord was impressed with how the new formation worked, and also praised a certain Mesut Ozil.
The German star has been well and truly made a scapegoat in north London this season, with Gunners fans here in the Tavern often lambasting the playmaker for his sub-par performances.
However, Ozil looked somewhat like his former self at the Riverside Stadium on Monday night, and it reminded a number of Arsenal fans here in the pub that the £140k-a-week star is still yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
