Jose Mourinho had apparently started planning his summer spending at Manchester United.
Now, with the former Chelsea manager’s appointment at Old Trafford imminent, the outspoken Portuguese can really begin to put his master plan into action.
Mourinho is a proven winner, and success follows him wherever he has been.
At Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid, triumph’s have been aplenty, with 3 Premier League titles, 2 Serie A titles, a La Liga title and 2 Champion’s League trophies amongst a number of other awards on Mourinho’s impressive CV.
United fans will hope the former Porto man can bring the kind of success he has done to almost all of his previous clubs, with the club in a current state of turmoil after the recent sacking of FA Cup winning manager Louis Van Gaal.
One thing they can almost certainly count on, is that Mourinho’s presence in Manchester will attract a host of big name players.
United – less so in the last third of the season – have struggled for goals this season, and hence summer recruits in the final third of the pitch are almost certain.
If Mourinho gets the men he wants, will United’s front three look like this next season? The fans at the Transfer Tavern certainly hope so…..

LW – Anthony Martial

United’s silver lining in an otherwise average season at Old Trafford, Martial has lived up his colossal £36 million transfer fee, and proved himself one of the hottest young prospects in world football.
The Frenchman wasn’t expected to take to the Premier League the way he does, with many expecting the 20-year-old to need time to adjust to life in England.
However, a sensational debut goal and 15 more goals later, Martial finished United’s top scorer for the season – an impressive achievement considering he spent so much of his playing time out on the wing.
The former Monaco forward seems to glide past defenders effortlessly, and has already drawn many comparisons to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Martial can expect to star again at Old Trafford next season, and will be one of the first names on Jose Mourinho’s team sheet without a doubt.
ST – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan has a ‘special’ relationship with the ‘special’ one, with he two having formerly worked together at Inter Milan.
The outspoken pair only spent one season together in Italy, but have held a metal respect and adoration for each other ever since.
The Swedish international famously claimed he would have ‘died’ for Mourinho in his autobiography, and perhaps more famously fell out of terms with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, stating the Spaniard had ‘no balls’ and ’shit himself in front of Mourninho’. Quite a statement.
And the respect for each other goes both aways, with Mourinho describing Zlatan as one of the ‘best he has ever worked with’. The Portuguese’s presence at Old Trafford could be enough to lure his charismatic, goal machine of a prodigy to England this summer, and how United fans would be pleased.
RW – Cristiano Ronaldo

Although the 3 time Balon D’or winner and former United star recently reiterated his dedication to Real Madrid, you can never really know these days, with reports suggesting the Portuguese goalscorer is ‘free to leave’ the Spanish capital should someone match his £80 million valuation.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has been the driving force behind Mourinho’s proposed move to United over the past few months, so reuniting the pair – who had a good relationship during their time at Los Blancos – this summer could be on the cards.
I don’t think any club in the world would be displeased at the idea of Cristiano Ronaldo arriving at their club, but the move but be an exceptionally special one for the Red Devil’s faithful, who would hope their former star turned world-beater can lift them back to the days of their former glories.
With Zlatan allegedly about the make the switch to Old Trafford too however, is there enough room in the United dressing room for two stars – and egos – of their size?
