Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their side’s season peter out in recent weeks.
And although it has been a successful season for the blue half of Merseyside, the hope will be that the Toffees can really push for a top four place next season which will see the club enter the enchanted land of the Champions League.
Whether or not Ronald Koeman is at the helm to lead that challenge is a different story and one that frustrates the Evertonians in the Tavern.
The Dutchman’s failure to play down speculation that he is interested in the Barcelona job has really seemed to distract his side is the last few weeks of the season, and our landlord believes alarm bells are ringing among the Everton hierarchy who realise they probably have a maximum of two seasons left with Koeman at the helm of their club.
Of course, a lot can be achieved in two years at a football club, but our landlord believes the Toffees need to be active in the summer transfer window in order to get a move on.
With speculation around the futures of Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku brewing, the desire to bring in a striker and a midfielder to Goodison Park is huge among the Toffees in the Tavern.
The common thought is that if this type of player is not bought it to replace the duo, they should be signed to take the pressure of their performances.

Henry Onyekuru
With the hope that Romelu Lukaku can stay for at least another season, the idea from the Everton fans in the Tavern is to sign 19-year-old Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eupen and then replace Lukaku with the Nigerian when he inevitably leaves the club.
Our landlord actually agrees with his Evertonian punters but knows the interest in Onyekuru is high among other Premier League sides, the Toffees will need to move fast because this signing could bring Champions League football to Goodison Park for many years to come if it materialises.
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Everton fans in the Tavern are hoping to see Sigurdsson alongside Ross Barkely as opposed to a replacement for the young Englishman.
Sigurdsson was vital in keeping Swansea up and there is no doubt that he can bring another dimension to the Toffees with his ability to pick a pass in the final third.
Of course, the interest around Sigurdsson will be high but our landlord believes that the potential Everton have to push for a top four finish, may well tempt the Icelandic international to come to Goodison Park should Ronald Koeman feel the need to make an offer.
