Our Crystal Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern haven’t had much to chant about this season but the last few days or so have offered them some respite.
Of course, the Eagles still have some way to go before they are safe in the Premier League this season but the weekend’s win over Middlesbrough will have to be considered as a possible turning point.
Away from their struggles, though, they took great joy in Brighton’s late capitulation last night at home to Newcastle in the Championship.
A potential title decider, the two sides were first and second going into the game and it was the Magpies who came out on top thanks to a brace of late goals.
Brighton, then, will have to pick themselves up quickly with the club having the unfortunate record of blowing their promotion chances late on in the season over the past few years.
That certainly wasn’t lost on the Palace faithful on Twitter, either, as they were quick to point out:
