Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see a big finish out of their stars this season, as so far this year it has been a terrible time to be a Gooner.

Chants of ‘Wenger out’ have echoed for the majority of the season, with Arsenal’s campaign being summed up with the embarrassing cup final defeat to Man City. With the Gunners looking like the only path into the Champions League next season is through the same method as Man United did it last year – winning the Europa League, our regulars demand a strong finish.

It’s still very much up in the air over Wenger’s future going into next season, but this year they should be all singing off the same hymn sheet if they want to the legendary Arsenal man to possibly go out on a high.

However, our punters believe by winning the Europa League, it will buy Wenger another year at the club, furthermore for that to happen the Frenchman needs his players to step up a level or two in the remaining few months. With our barman thinking that these TWO, in particular, having the biggest fight for their futures out of the squad…

Alexandre Lacazette

The French forward has, already it seems, been replaced by the incoming Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January. Surely, if Lacazette harbours any desires to be at the Emirates next season, then the stage is set for him for the final part of the season, once he gets over his injury.

With Aubameyang unable to play in the Europa League, Lacazette has a wonderful chance to impress on an important stage. If he wants to play a huge part in the Gunners future, the not so simple task is to displace the Gabon marksman and prove to the manager that he should be the first name on the list come match day.

Petr Cech

The veteran goalkeeper is nearing the end of his career many in the bar feel, and with that, his age is starting to ever so slightly show with every performance. If Cech wants to continue next season and not be replaced, he has to roll back the years like many stoppers have done before him and start to use his experience.

Cech is a top quality keeper, no doubt about it, however, Arsenal are looking at the future and as it stands Cech may not be around to see it all unfold.
