Arsenal find themselves in a very strong position this year after kicking on under new boss Unai Emery, and a lot of that success can be put down to their recent activity in the transfer market.
Indeed, the Spaniard, who replaced club legend Arsene Wenger this summer, has already made a number of key signings, including Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi and Stephan Lichtsteiner.
However, given how quickly they’ve acclimatised to the demands of Premier League football, he may be looking to add a few new faces to really improve his team’s chances of a top four spot.
Unfortunately for some players, the introduction of fresh talent this January will undoubtedly spell the end of their career in north London.
That said, here are two individuals who look like they’ll be sacrificed…
Mohamed Elneny
Egypt international Mohamed Elneny has been heavily linked with a move away from Emirates this January with Leicester City his most likely destination (via The Sun).
Despite penning a contract earlier this year to keep him at the club until 2022, the ex-Basel man has found it difficult getting minutes under his belt this season since the arrival of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi, whose services are evidently preferred by boss Unai Emery.
Whether the move is permanent or not remains to be seen, but its probably for the best that he leave the club, for now, to save his career from stagnating.
Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey’s exit from Arsenal has been one of the most documented transfer sagas so far this season.
The Wales international is the subject of interest from a number of top teams, including Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Chelsea and Juventus. (via The Sun).
There’s little that needs to be said about the quality of Ramsey, as we’re sure everyone aware of his abilities, and there’s no doubt he’ll find a club as soon as the window opens.
The question remains, however, if he’ll opt to move this winter or stay on for the remainder of the season. For Arsenal, letting him go on a free makes little sense – and so surely a January exit is on the cards?
