Our Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern couldn’t be happier with the dealings Arsene Wenger has managed to get over the line this winter window.

It’s about time the Gunners put some real signings into the lineup, and after losing Alexis Sanchez to rivals Manchester United, Wenger needed to bring in top-class players. He got one as part of the Sanchez deal in Henrikh Mkhitaryan but Arsenal needed more.

Many of the regulars believe they are still a defensive midfielder short of being a force to be reckoned with, but they’ve definitely taken a step in the right direction this January.

Wenger hasn’t been shy about letting players out of the door, with many fringe players leaving to other clubs around Europe. However, there will be a couple that wish they would have gone to enhance their personal chances of securing a World Cup spot this summer for their country.

Our landlord takes a look at the two players that maybe should have followed the rest…

David Ospina

The Columbian goalkeeper is very much second fiddle to Petr Cech and has only made nine appearances so far this season. If Ospina is to get to the World Cup as Colombia’s premier shot-stopper, he has to put himself in the limelight more often than he currently is doing.

Ospina’s international future could hinge on Cech’s form, and he’ll be hoping for more mistakes like he made against Swansea to gain some more game time.

Danny Welbeck

Former Man United forward Welbeck seems to have fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, especially with the two arrivals of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this winter window.

Welbeck hasn’t exactly been the most prolific of strikers over the years, but he would have surely been holding on to a chance to get to the World Cup like many of the English lads will be this season. Now with the re-jig up front, it’s hard to see where Welbeck is going to get his chance to shine.
