The latest man to sit in the Chelsea hot seat has a difficult challenge ahead of him; but thus far – he has risen to it.
However, there is one outstanding criticism of the Chelsea boss that is coming from the Blues fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Chelsea have had some excellent results over the last few weeks, but this has been done with largely the same first team. Conte has his set first team; and thus far he has been hesitant to change it.
As a result, several players have seen their opportunities limited – and long-term, this will not be good for Chelsea. Our landlord thinks that Conte should look to offload these players in an effort to continue their progression.
With that said, these 2 Chelsea players need to leave to fulfil their potential
Oscar
Oscar has seen his opportunities increasingly limited this year, and since the Blues switched to a 3-4-3; he has hardly had a look in.
In truth, Conte’s latest formation places very little emphasis on attacking central midfielders – and so Oscar, much like Cesc Fabregas, will find his opportunities limited this season.
The Brazilian midfielder recently turned 25, and so he needs to be playing each and every week.
The Blues could certainly get a pretty decent fee for him; so Conte should look to sell. He simply will not play this year.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has, surprisingly, seen his opportunities reduce significantly this season – with Conte preferring Nathaniel Chalobah in the middle-of-the-park.
It is disappointing to see, especially because Loftus-Cheek is considered by the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern as the jewel in the Chelsea academy’s crown.
His move away should only be temporary, but it is clear that he needs regular game time – and so a loan deal simply makes sense.
He could get 6 months away from the club, playing regular first team football, and come back to Chelsea next summer as a real force in the midfield.
