However, those defeats have forced change at Stamford Bridge – and there has been a turnaround in recent weeks.

Antonio Conte has, of course, switched formation – which has undoubtedly helped – but the rise in form of two of Chelsea’s most important stars has ultimately been the most important factor.

N’Golo Kante had a bit of a slow start to life at Chelsea, but his form in recent weeks has picked up dramatically.

Against Man Utd and Leicester, in particular, the young Frenchman was outstanding, and it is clear that Conte is building his team around him.

It is no coincidence that Chelsea’s form has picked up alongside Kante’s – he is that important to this side.

He offers so much protection at the back and helps Chelsea drive forward – and if he plays well; Chelsea will usually win.

 Diego Costa

Diego Costa has been on fire this season, and finds himself atop the Premier League goalscoring charts.

He has consistently scored thus far, and his goals are what kept Chelsea afloat during a rough patch at the start of the season.

Without his goals, there is no telling where Chelsea would be. He could be the difference maker between a Champions League finish and a Premier League title win this season.
