Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are very excited for what could be a great end to the season following their winter transfer acquisitions.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has bought well in January and the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has raised expectations with our Arsenal fans in the bar. Many of the regulars are desperate to see if Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan can rekindle the chemistry from their Borussia Dortmund days, and fire the Gunners into the Champions League places after missing out for the first time under Wenger’s reign at the Emirates last season.

Arsenal will also be hoping to gain some silverware for the first time in the Frenchman’s history in the Carabao Cup, and if Wenger can get his team gelled and all singing off the same hymn sheet as soon as possible, this Arsenal team could be a force to be reckoned with in the final few months of the season.

Our landlord takes a look at two matches in February that should define Arsenals season…

February 10th: Away v Tottenham Hotspur

In the north London derby, all eyes will be on Arsenal to go to Wembley and claim the three points. The Gunners need to win, there are no two ways about it as they trail behind their closest rivals in the League.

If they are to gain qualification to next season Champions League and win against Spurs is a must and obviously, local bragging rights are always welcomed by our local Arsenal fans in the pub. Having beaten them once already this season, it’s vitally important that the Gooners pump the Spuds again.

February 25th: Carabao Cup Final

In the second visit to Wembley within weeks of each other, Arsenal will be hoping that the hallowed turf can be a lucky stomping ground in February as they look to win the League Cup for the first time under Wenger.

A win and a piece of silverware could really push Arsenal on in terms of momentum in the league as they have to hunt down the pack ahead. A showpiece final against one of the best teams in the league as all the makings of a season-defining match for the Gunners and their faithful.
