These 2 January signings would take Everton to the next level

Everton have a strong and competent squad but at times their team seems like it’s full of luxury players.

For instance, the Toffees were just pummelled away at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea ran riot and netted five times, although it could have been more.

And yet, Everton have impressed at Manchester City this season, earning themselves a point as well as drawing with Tottenham and impressing at home against West Ham and Middlesbrough.

It’s safe to say that the Toffees are better than a ‘mixed bag’ but their is still a lot of improvements to be made to that squad.

Koeman purchased well this summer, bringing in Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie who have settled nicely but there’s still more to be done to take them to the next level.

The punters here at the Transfer Tavern have looked at recent rumours and think these TWO players could raise Everton to another gear….

Lamine Kone

The centre half has also been linked with a move to West Ham but for now still plies his trade at Sunderland.

However, he was strongly rumoured to be leaving in the summer and despite clinging on to him by the coat tails, Moyes will have been disappointed by his form and desire to play.

If they can get a handsome fee for the centre half it might be worth cashing in but there’s no doubt he’d improve Everton’s squad and take them to the next level.

Whilst Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka have formed a good and experienced centre back partnership, there’s no doubt that Kone would increase the pressure on them to perform as they would know that there is someone very impressive waiting in the wings.

Generally speaking, Everton have defended well this season but he would be a cracking reinforcement.

Ademola Lookman

Lookman

He currently plays for Charlton Athletic in League One and despite the Addicks relegation from the Championship last season, he was still a really bright spark.

He has played for the England u19 and u20 squads and has featured 39 times in the league for Charlton, netting 8 times.

He is seen as a really promising attacking prospect.

Whilst he might not necessarily add to Everton immediately, in terms of ‘one for the future’ – Lookman slots in very nicely.

The Toffees won’t find his signature easy though.

Leading Premier League clubs, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are already looking at the youngster and if anything, Everton have entered it quite late and would need to do a lot to tempt him.

However, he would most certainly be worth it in the long term.
