You get the feeling that, despite all their spending in the summer transfer window, Manchester United are going to try and spend big again in January when the market reopens.
Our resident United fans here in the Transfer Tavern would definitely go along with that assessment after the men from Old Trafford have failed to impress so far this season.
They are currently eight points off the top of the table and look easily the worst of the six sides that many thought would be going for the Premier League crown this year, so many feel Jose Mourinho is going to get the chequebook out again.
The thing is, that United are one of the few clubs that could buy nearly any player in the world right now, despite their current league position and so their title rivals should be wary of what could be about to come.
Our landlord certainly thinks if they want to win the league they need better players in the squad and reckons signing these TWO would certainly make them a bigger threat…
Antoine Griezmann

Griezmann has a genuine shout of winning the Ballon D’or this year ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, so that tells you just how good he has been in recent times.
The diminutive forward took Atletico Madrid to the Champions League final whilst he was the top scorer at EURO 2016 as France reached the centre-piece of that competition, so you wouldn’t bet against him getting United back into the hunt for trophies.
Marco Verratti

United need a proper battler in midfield that can also play.
At the moment they look for Marouane Fellaini to break up opposition attacks and whilst he can do that, he doesn’t offer much on the ball.
This is where Verratti who, despite his small size, can mix it with the toughest of midfielders and can get on the ball and get it moving around the pitch.
He’d be a Premier League hit.
