Manchester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are expecting plenty of new additions as Guardiola’s summer rebuild continues.

Following a trophyless season in his first campaign as Manchester City manager, the former Barca boss has seemingly undertaken a mass-exodus at City to rebuild his squad.

The 46-year-old labelled his first season with City as a ‘disaster’, having achieved continuous success at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Consequently, the Citizens are poised to spend big as Guardiola looks to assemble the squad that will give him the very best chance of winning silverware.

Ederson and Bernardo Silva are the only signings that the club have completed so far but surely it’so only a matter of time until a few more deals are confirmed.

Luke Shaw

Manchester City’s need for a left-back is apparent. Having released Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna, the Citizens require full-backs for both flanks.

Luke Shaw endures a rather strained relationship with the manager, Jose Mourinho. There were times during the last campaign in which Mourinho publicly humiliated and ridiculed the Englishman, and unless the pair can resolve their differences, the 22-year-old’s days as a Red Devil may be numbered.

His United career has been hindered significantly by injury, yet he is still unequivocally a talented player. He’s quick and flaunts a superb dribbling ability. Shaw is very influential while attacking due to his marvellous dribbling and crossing qualities.

Matteo Darmian

The 27-year-old’s career as a Red Devil has failed to progress as many anticipated; he was utilised as a rotational option last season, fighting Daley Blind for a position at left-back.

While the Italian has struggled somewhat to secure a starting place at United, he could be of greater benefit to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Darmian can operate on either side of the pitch; he has even been deployed as a defensive midfielder. While his attacking qualities may not be as impressive as most full-backs, his defensive contribution is outstanding, particularly his tackling ability. He could be an intriguing utility player for United’s fierce rivals.
