These 2 players have let Liverpool down so far this season

It has been a tremendous start to the 2016/17 campaign for the Liverpool supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern, with their side currently just a point away from Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

Boss Jurgen Klopp has instilled new found confidence into his charges and they are starting to show form which suggests that they could be crowned Premier League champions come May.

One Liverpool fan is sat enjoying a nice Sunday evening pint here in the Tavern and he thinks that the Reds are flying at present, but does concede that they need to cut out certain silly mistakes if they are serious about becoming genuine title contenders.

With his thoughts in mind, Tavern writer Lee Clarke looked at two players who have let Liverpool down this season and who need to improve ahead of challenges for the rest of the campaign.

Daniel Sturridge

sturridge

The Liverpool striker seemingly doesn’t fit into the style of football which boss Klopp is wanting to play at Anfield and his performances have been disappointing to say the least.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City man plays much better when operating in a front two and if Sturridge has any hopes of forcing his way into Klopp’s long-term plans, he simply needs to start applying himself more when asked to play in his manager’s preferred style of play.

One Reds supporter is over by the fruit machine here in the Tavern and he things that Sturridge is not prepared to change his ways, stating that his days at Anfield are clearly numbered.

Mamadou Sakho

Sakho

The French defender has not featured for Liverpool yet this season due to a public spat with boss Jurgen Klopp.

With the Reds on the brink of something special the last thing the club needs is something non-football related ruining their chances of their maiden Premier League title.

Sakho has been playing with the development squad during this season and his behaviour towards his boss has tarnished an otherwise successful start to the campaign for the Reds.
