These 2 players need to be on Koeman’s Everton summer transfer wish-list

Everton have enjoyed another satisfactory campaign lingering in the top seven, but not really anything beyond expectation in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Toffees continue to struggle to break into the top-six.

Ronald Koeman will assess his first year on Merseyside as encouraging and with players going from strength to strength, he and his team could break that barrier next season.

However, the Dutchman boss will be accumulating a number of potential targets in the window in what could be set to be a hectic couple of months at Goodison Park as the squad looks likely to be reinforced.

Of course, the ongoing situation regarding members of the first-team leaving won’t help Koeman but that’s a different story and has no relation to incomings.

The supporters by the bar having been discussing prospective arrivals at Everton, so here are TWO players that need to be on the manager’s summer transfer wish-list…

Phil Jones

Phil Jones has never really fulfilled the potential he once had upon signing for Manchester United six years ago, and a departure from Old Trafford is on the cards.

The centre-back has made just fourteen appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side this campaign, which hasn’t been helped by injuries, but recent team sheets would suggest the player’s future is not at the Theatre of Dreams.

Our Everton-mad chef would highly welcome Jones to Goodison Park as the club currently lack in defensive options, especially with the ageing Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams.

Asmir Begovic

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has always been second fiddle in the goalkeeping position to Thibaut Courtois and he may have become frustrated at the lack of league opportunities in recent months.

Asmir Begovic has quality in abundance there’s no doubt in that sense.

However, the punters here at the Football Transfer Tavern think the 29-year-old would thrive at Stamford Bridge if Courtois did leave.

Nevertheless, Ronald Koeman could do with a top-draw man between the sticks and Begovic could be that player.

A pricey signing but would definitely be worth spending the money on him.

Everton supporters, would you welcome these two? Do you need a new defender? Is goalkeeping a problem at the moment? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments below!
