Although currently sitting outside the top four, Manchester City fans here in the Tavern have high hopes for the rest of the season.

The Citizens have not suffered a loss in the league since their 4-0 crushing against Everton last month. Since then, City have looked impressive, picking up high-scoring wins against both Crystal Palace and West Ham.

With the likes of Yaya Toure and Leroy Sane now finding their form, results can only pick up from here on out for City.

However, City must avoid the mistake getting complacent. All it takes is a few injuries/bans to certain players, and their season could take an unexpected turn for the worst.

Taking these factors into account, let’s look at TWO things that may come into fruition later in Manchester City’s season, which could seriously damage their title hopes.

An Injury to Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus is on fire.

The Brazilian youngster is becoming the talking point of the Premier League. Three goals and two assists in his last three games, the 19-year-old is playing with a smile on face and delivering the goods for City in the process.

They say all good things come to an end. In this case, an injury to Jesus could spell disaster for City. To protect their wonderkid, City must not become reliant on the Brazilian and rotate him at suitable periods of games with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Sergio Aguero.

Issues with Sergio Aguero

It’s no secret that Aguero isn’t a happy man at the moment. Reports from various media outlets suggest that the Argentinian will leave the club in the summer, due to issues between himself and manager Pep Guardiola.

Feeling as if he is ‘underappreciated’, the City gaffer must attempt to steer relationships back to a neutral point with Aguero, otherwise a negative morale could seriously impact his performances for the rest of the season.
