Chelsea have arguably one of the best strikers in the Premier League – if not Europe – at their dispense now in the form of Spaniard Diego Costa.
The former Atletico Madrid man has re-found the sparkling form of his debut Chelsea season in which he scored 20 league goals, netting 5 already this campaign in what has been an hit-and-miss start to the season for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.
The Brazil-born striker looks to be finally be the man to fill the super-sized boots of Chelsea legend, another striker the club have been fortunate enough to offer their services at the Bridge over the past decade.
Drogba was named the club’s ‘best ever player’ after his Champion’s League winning penalty in 2012 as he forever etched his name into the annals of Blue’s history by scoring 164 goals in two trophy-full spells at Stamford Bridge.
The pair – Drogba and Costa – are just two of the tens of striker Chelsea have possessed over the past decade, and they are the examples of the best without a doubt. However, with the best of course – and rather unfortunately – comes the worst.

‘El Tigre’s fall from grace has to one of the most disappointing in modern world football, but also a lesson that money isn’t the answer.
One time world beater Falcao’s name struck fear into the hearts of defenders during his time at both Porto and Atletico, however with every club in Europe vying for his signature, the Colombian chose AS Monaco in a mega-money move.
His reputation and his career swiftly went down the drain and his loan spell at Chelsea produced only 1 goal.

Claudio Pizarro
Peruvian Pizarro arrived at the Bridge with an impressive goalscoring record in Germany having enjoyed successful spells at both Werder Bremen and of course Bayern Munich.
A penalty shoot-out miss on his debut in the Community Shield loss to Manchester United wasn’t the best start, and it didn’t get much better from there either, with the striker registering only two goals for the Blues, both against Birmingham City on separate occasions.
Fernando Torres
People will argue that Fernando Torres wasn’t as bad of a signing as he was made out, considering he did score 45 goals for the Blue’s during his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
However, only 20 of these were in the league, coming across 4 seasons which frankly is a poor return for a man who cost a whopping £50 million.
A cry comes from the corner of the Tavern: “Well he scored the goal against Barcelona that put us in the Champion’s League final so …” No, he didn’t. He just acted like he did.
