With one player already through the doors at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting news of who may be the next arrival of the Antionio Conte era.

With a hugely disappointing campaign last season, Chelsea have already splashed big money on a promising young Belgian powerhouse (not Lukaku) and you would be foolish to think their summer signings will stop there.

With the arrival of Michy Batshuayi from Marseille,  and Italy’s narrow quarter-final exit from Euro 2016, the Antonio Conte era at Chelsea is now well underway.

The 22-year-old forward is a great addition to the Chelsea squad. He can play comfortably as a lone striker or perhaps in a pair with the temperamental, yet talented, Diego Costa. For a season without European football, it would seem Chelsea’s forward line is covered; but the summer spending won’t stop there.

Expect big names to be heavily linked with the blues in the following weeks as Chelsea aim to recapture the fear factor they had during their title winning 2014/2015 campaign, with the help of some new stars.

Here are three more big money arrivals that could follow Batushayi to Chelsea…

 

Antoine Griezmann

Scoring 32 goals last term, including the crucial Champions League semi-final winner over Bayern, the  French forward shone for Atletico as their star player and has caught the attention of the footballing world.

The 25-year-old now leads the Euro 2016 golden boot and it comes at no surprise Chelsea are willing to spend big money to bring Griezmann to the Bridge.

Unless Atletico tie him down with a big money contract, expect some significant bids from across Europe’s biggest clubs where Griezmann could be swayed.

Expect some transfer activity after Euro 2016, when the transfer market for big money stars really begins to get exciting.

John Stones

 Chelsea’s eagerness to sign Stones was no mystery last summer as they had 3 bids turned down from a stubborn Everton board, the highest reported at around £40 million.

Despite the obvious talent, the price tag does not match the player John Stones is at this current time.

Nonetheless, he has all the credentials for a future England Captain and Everton have slapped a £50 million price tag on his name amidst the interest from both Manchester clubs as well as Chelsea, who failed in their pursuit of Stones last summer.

In the modern transfer market as we know, large price tags would be no issue for the big clubs and a move away from Everton may be what he needs to take his game to the next level.

Everton would not sell cheaply but with John Terry coming to the end of his time at Chelsea, Stones would be a like for like replacement for the next decade if a deal were to go through a year later than expected.

 

 

Gonzalo Higuain

Despite the signing of Batshuayi, a move for the Argentinean striker would come at no surprise given Diego Costa’s future with the Blues remaining unclear.

If Costa were to leave Stamford Bridge, Chelsea would be keen to upgrade from the Spanish International and Higuain, who scored a more than impressive 36 goals in 35 games for the Serie A giants, would be an exciting prospect to lead the forward line.

He would not be cheap; but the reported £78 million buy-out clause would be no issue for Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea.

It seems Higauin is linked with most European football powerhouses each summer but could this be the year we see the Argentine in the Premier League?
