Here in the Transfer Tavern we love having a debate over who we rate and who we don’t.
Everyone has their own opinion on a player and it’s always intriguing to hear the punters’ take on some of the stars representing their club.
The Everton fans here, are no different.
They’re confident of a much better season than the last two under Roberto Martinez with Ronald Koeman looking like a good fit already.
After a bright start to proceedings this season the club are currently fourth in the table, unbeaten in the first three games and they are quietly hopeful of even Champions League qualification by the end of the campaign.
Whether that comes to pass remains to be seen but they’ve certainly got their opinions on who they think will be key to any such challenge.
Our landlord has a few ideas though too, and thinks this THREE need to up their game if the Toffees are to have a good year…
Romelu Lukaku
Make no mistake Romelu Lukaku is a good player but the way people seemed to be acting this Summer was as if he was the best centre-forward in Europe.
The Belgian blows hot and cold for the Toffees, undoubtedly frustrating them and the fact that he was being linked with a staggering £75 million switch back to Chelsea only made matters more baffling.
He has along way to come before he can be considered that good.
Yannick Bolasie
Bolasie was a fan-favourite at Crystal Palace but there was a reason they were not that fussed about letting him go this Summer, they had a better replacement in Andros Townsend.
The winger has bags of pace but Eagles fans will tell you he very rarely makes the right decisions and was as inconsistent as they come, so why Everton have decided to go for him has really stumped our landlord.
Kevin Mirallas
When you think about it what does Kevin Mirallas actually do?
He has a few tricks, occasionally scores but more often than not doesn’t and must really frustrate the Goodison Park crowd when he’s not at it.
There are better, more consistent widemen out there and with the new financial clout the Toffees have it’s a bit of a mystery as to why they haven’t really improved on the Belgian.
