These 3 La Liga hidden gems would surely help Leeds United finally get promoted

Leeds United continued their Championship promotion push with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Derby County on Friday evening, meaning they now sit third in the league table.

Their supporters here in the Tavern are absolutely delighted with how things are panning out this season and you can’t blame them in the slightest, there’s been some fantastic work on the pitch from the whole of the squad in recent months.

Considering the Whites endured somewhat of a tough start to the campaign, you’ve got to give the team plenty of credit for the way they’ve turned things around and made themselves into genuine title contenders too.

But with the January transfer window now upon us, thought here in the pub between the Leeds locals has turned to potential investment and the sort of players that might be able to come in and do a job in the second half of the season.

And with foreign investment become more the norm, we want to take a look at some continental talent that might do a job for the Whites as they continue their promotion charge.

So with that in mind, here’s 3 exciting foreign prospects Leeds United should target in the coming days…

Josep Sene

Celta Vigo have become somewhat of a force in La Liga over the past couple of seasons and their meteoric rise up the table has come as a surprise to a few of our Spanish-supporting fans here in Tavern.

But whilst the Galician-based outfit continue to climb the table, attacking midfielder Josep Sene continues to stay on the peripherals of the first-team, despite making the matchday squad more often than not.

He’s a skilful player who is known for his ability to take the ball around opponents. He spent three years in the Real Madrid youth set-up so knows the game well. This might be a gamble but it could very much pay off.

Federico Cartabia

Next we’re heading to Valencia, a team that have struggled for form for a couple of years now.

It’s the same old story this time out for Los Che and one man that we think might do a cracking job for the Whites is wide man Federico Cartabia. We’ve seen how well dipping into the foreign market has played out for Garry Monk and Argentine flanker Cartabia certainly fits the bill for a player that might work at Elland Road.

Blisteringly quick with a real eye for getting at defenders, Cartabia is the sort of man that could have a massive impact at Elland Road.

Michael Santos

This would certainly have to be a loan move of some sorts because the hype surrounding Malaga winger Michael Santos means Leeds probably wouldn’t be able to afford a large sum of money for the talented 23-year-old forward.

He’s made his big breakthrough at senior level this season but has still only featured five times for La Rosadela, with manager Marcelo Romero seemingly keen on easing him into the action.

But at this point in his career, the former River Plate man needs to be getting time on the pitch and a loan until the end of the season would take some of the pressure off the shoulders of Chris Wood.

This is a man who scored over 40 goals in 90 appearances back in Argentina. He knows where the net is.
