The future is bright for the Leicester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…

If Leicester City’s title success can be attributed to one thing, it is arguably the way that Claudio Ranieri got the best out of his players.

While skilled footballers like Riyad Mahrez and Danny Drinkwater wowed with their tricky dribbling and cultured passing respectively, Foxes fans can also thank those players who were elevated from journeyman to heroes in the space of nine months.

Players like Danny Simpson, Wes Morgan, Robert Huth and Marc Albrighton had either been knocking around the lower leagues or struggling in the reserves of Premier League clubs before moving to the King Power Stadium.

Instead of taking the opportunity to attract big names this year, the Foxes have instead looked to bring the best out of their younger players.

Here at the Tavern, we’ve picked three wonderkids who could be worth their weight in gold in five years.

DEMARAI GRAY

The first man on our list is one that is already establishing himself in the Leicester City first team.

Gray impressed in pre-season and earned a start in the first game against Hull City, where he was one of the better players on show and earned a penalty before being substituted with an injury.

Gray has been a bit-part player since then but with Albrighton failing to impress on the wing, Gray may take his spot.

His wonderful strike from the bench against Manchester United and first goal for the England Under-21s this week suggests he will be confident when given the chance.

JOSEPH DODOO

After announcing himself with a bang at the start of last season, Joseph Dodoo hasn’t seen to much first-team action.

Dodoo made his debut in the second round of last season’s League Cup, where he scored a superb hat-trick in a 4-1 win at Bury. He then got the opener in the next round against West Ham United.

Later that year he moved to Bury where he made four appearances and while Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani moved to the King Power Stadium this summer, Dodoo will be hoping to impress on loan at Rangers and force himself into Ranieri’s plans.

HAMZA CHOUDHURY

The final man on our list is another player currently on loan.

Unlike Dodoo however, Choudhury is clocking up the games with Burton Albion in the Championship and is quietly developing his game.

The big-haired midfielder is brilliant at harassing the opposition and winning the ball but needs to work on his passing to make it at the top level.

If he keeps gaining experience and working on his distribution, Choudhry may well fancy his chances at eventually taking the place next to Drinkwater which was vacated by N’Golo Kante in the summer.
