Everton fans here in the bar at the Football Transfer Tavern have a lot to look forward to this season, with a new boss and a big budget to blow, it could be an exciting summer.

Ronald Koeman has been working to get some signings in at Everton since he came over from Southampton and it looks as if his first outfield signing could be Jose Fonte, the man that was his captain at the Saints.

Despite this move looking likely to happen, Koeman will be nowhere near finished in the transfer market and will continue to look for talented players to come in to help him to put his stamp on the club.

It’s looking likely that Fonte could be replacing John Stones but they will be making signings to improve the team as the Toffees look to build on what is already a talented squad, as they strive to get back into European competition and Ronald Koeman aims to continue the impressive work that he has done as a manager so far.

With this in mind, our regulars here that hail from Goodison Park have drawn up a list of the THREE players that think could follow the Portuguese international into the club this summer…

Ashley Williams

Even if Fonte does join, Ashley Williams would still be a great signing as the pair would be exactly what is needed to tighten up a defence that has leaked a lot of goals in recent years.

After a great Euro 2016, the Wales captain will be on a high and will be more motivated than ever to get success at club level. It doesn’t look like Swansea are doing much to push on so Everton’s ambition could prove enough to prise the 31-year-old away from Swansea.

Alex Witsel

When Alex Witsel moved to Zenit St. Petersburg, many people suggested that he was wasting his talent in Russia and it seems that he now agrees with them.

He is now looking for a move to a bigger league and has been linked with Juventus and Everton, but with the Italian giants having signed Miralem Pjanic and splashed out money on Gonzalo Higuain, it could open up the door for Everton to move in and get their man.

Idrissa Gueye

Aston Villa had a disastrous season last year as they were relegated from the Premier League in  pretty embarrassing fashion. However one player that came out pretty well is Idrissa Gueye and his performances last year have prompted Everton to trigger the Senegal interonationl’s £7.1m release clause.

If Gueye does make the move to Merseyside, he will be looking to force his way into the starting line up and his arrival could see the ageing Gareth Barry getting a bit less game time.
