Out of nowhere, Arsenal managed to battle their way to a second place finish last season; signaling that the fortunes of Arsene Wenger might just be on the way up.
After nearly decade of relative mediocrity, the signs have certainly been there over the last few years of an improving Arsenal.
Signings like Sanchez and Ozil are certainly part of that, but Arsene Wenger’s tactical awareness and on field decisions also have played a part.
As Wenger chops and changes his players and tactics, a number of players new and old have been put to the side in favour of differing options.
As a result of this, a number of players have simply become surplus to requirements at the Emirates, and they are simply being wasted.

Wojciech Szczesny
A lot of the Arsenal fans in the Tavern had simply forgotten that Wojciech Szczesny was still on the Arsenal books!
After a relatively successful season with Roma, the goalkeeper will be back at Arsenal this summer; and is expected to have crunch talks regarding his future over the Euros.
Whilst we’re sure he would want to stay at the club; the fact is that he simply must leave.
With Ospina a decent back up, and the huge signing of Petr Cech being a major factor in Arsenal’s change of fortunes last season; there simply is no place for the Polish keeper at Arsenal anymore.
After his season last year and a potentially decent Euro showing this summer; his market value should be at a point where Arsenal can recoup a decent fee for the young keeper.
Mathieu Debuchy
After a stellar start to his Arsenal career, Mathieu Debuchy looked set to become the answer to the club’s right back problems.
However, a long term injury as a result of leg break would leave him sidelined for months; and he has since failed to regain his spot due to the rise of young Hector Bellarin.
His story is unfortunate, as he is certainly a talented player – but injuries have certainly played their part.
Bellerin is only getting better, and looks set to be a long term part of the Arsenal set up, and with Debuchy unhappy to play second fiddle; he will likely leave this summer.
This move works both parties.
Theo Walcott
When Theo Walcott signed for Arsenal as a young midfielder, the world was at his feet. Comparisons to European legends were drawn, and he was seemingly destined to become an Arsenal legend.
Unfortunately, since then, things haven’t quite worked out how either party would have liked.
Walcott has certainly forged a decent career for himself, but he has largely failed to live up to the huge expectations that were placed upon him.
With rumours of interest from across Europe, and with Liverpool reportedly keen to put in a £25 million bid for the winger; this is time for the Englishman to finally move out of the Emirates.
A move to Liverpool will offer him a chance to reignite his career and regain a starting position at a top European club; whilst also injecting some much needed cash into the Arsenal transfer kitty.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain
A player much like Theo Walcott in ability and potential; when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cropped up a few years ago, he was touted as Walcott’s successor by some.
However, much like his compatriot, he has largely failed to live up to expectations.
Like Walcott, he certainly has all the talent, but for whatever reason it has not worked out for the young Englishman.
After a injury-ridden year or two, he has lost his place in the Arsenal side and it looks like he must move from the club if he wants to regain his form.
He has age on his side, and certainly still has time to regain his form, but a move away from the club might just be the opportunity he needs to reach his potential.
