Red Devils in the Tavern have been thoroughly impressed with how certain players have stepped up to the plate so far this season. 

United were tipped as one of the title favourites prior to the season and that’s exactly how it has panned out. Having completed a quarter of the season already, the Reds look fairly well positioned as they stay seated in second place, trailing rivals City. Having seen their bitter rivals lift the coveted trophy more recently, it has given them extra incentive to stop them in their tracks.

Things have also been impressive in Europe this season, as they enter the frame in first position having been unbeaten for the duration. For a team that hasn’t felt the taste of European success in quite a while, they’ll be looking to make the most of this position. After doing the double over Portuguese giants Benfica with a dominant 2-0 display at Old Trafford, they can now look to implement this momentum domestically.

Having started the season so strongly, there always has to be a reason for it. That is the step up in performance from a few of the talented players that United have at their disposal. Mourinho has created a well-drilled machine, where everyone knows their roles and what is expected of them. Utilizing the now commonly spread 3 back formation has worked wonders for the side, as creativity has blossomed.

Marcus Rashford

The English youngster has been pivotal in the rise of United so far this season. The forward has really come into his own as he finds the net with ease. Looking to improve on an already impressive start to his career, he’s scored frequently this term without putting a foot wrong.

Having signed the highly-rated Romelu Lukaku, many believed that he would suffer, but he has thrived with his partnership with the Belgian as they cause absolute nightmares. 

Ashley Young

The newly transformed full back has been a revelation so far this season, as he continues to make the newly designed position his own. Having provided some solid performances and contributed in numerous goals, the right-back, who many believed had come to the end of his time, has been able to rejuvenate his career in an impressive manner.

After his call-up to the England squad, Gareth Southgate has been paying close attention to this man’s progress. Defensively sound, lightning pace, attacking intent, there really is no reason as to why he can’t succeed at an international level once again.

Romelu Lukaku

The newly signed Belgian has been a delight for the club so far, as he sets the Premier League a light. Having managed to score 7 league goals so far this term – he really is in the form of his career. With the injury to Ibrahimovic, who was so pivotal last season, it was important for Lukaku to step up to the plate and that’s exactly what he has done,

Now looking to challenge for the Golden Boot, he will be focused on maintaining his fine form. As a part of United’s big three, he has been vital in linking up with the surrounding Rashford and Martial with the trio taking the Premier League by storm, leaving every defender in their wake.
