Our Manchester City fans here inside the Transfer Tavern are getting a little excited over the potential British record fee being broken for one the Premier League’s top stars.

Eden Hazard has been recently linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester City as they look to build their own style of Galacticos in England. Hazard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but the deal is said to be interrupted by Pep Guardiola, much to the delight of the City slickers propping up our bar.

Our regulars in the pub today believe that with the possible arrival of the Chelsea star, City are going to take some beating in the Premier League for many a season. However, it’s not all about the stars at the top of the field.

The Citizens will need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch also to truly become a long-term force in England and Europe, so our landlord has sat down with a pen and paper and listed a couple of names that should follow Hazard to Chelsea…

Salif Sane

The Hannover 96 centre defender is somewhat under the radar this season in the Bundesliga. He’s ranked among one of the highest performers in the German League all season and could be a real coup for Pep in his search to replace Vincent Kompany and look for a defender to toughen up the defence.

Sane is great in the air and likes to get the ball down and play, which would suit Guardiola’s playing from the back approach, the relatively unknown Senegalese players wouldn’t command a high fee either, which would be a bonus in today’s market.

Nabil Fekir

The Lyon man is having the season of his life in the French Ligue 1. He’s helped himself to 19 goals and 5 assists in his 26 appearances in all competitions playing as an attacking midfielder. He can pay as a forward also which may suit Pep’s false 9 approach, if he chooses to use it.

The Frenchman would have to level up if he was to come to City but surely the Spaniard would be able to get the most out of him like his manager has done this season so far.
