Manchester City fans here in the Tavern are loving life under Pep Guardiola, as two January signings were secured for the Citizens during the transfer window.
Indeed, Pep Guardiola was able to turn his attention to the future progression of the club during the January transfer window, as their already unassailable lead at the top of the table allowed them to bide their time with additions to their squad. To that end, welcoming Aymeric Laporte to the Etihad was definitely a statement of intent from the Spaniard, as City look to reign supreme in the Champions League also this season. As well as seeing a future investment from the MLS make the switch to the city of Manchester, as Jack Harrison joined the Citizens.
However, with bitter rivals the last team to win back-to-back Premier League titles from the year 2007-2009, Guardiola has set his sights firmly on overcoming this with a title triumph being the target for next season. And, there’s no better aid towards this than looking to the summer transfer window for reinforcements within their side.
As the Citizens are already eyeing up a move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, after failing to meet the Foxes asking price of £95 million for the Algerian in January. A player that’s established himself as one of the best attacking outlets in the Premier League, and to see him in the same pool of excellence as the Manchester City attack is something that excites City fans.
Nevertheless, here’s a look at TWO players who could follow Mahrez to the Etihad in the summer…
Antoine Griezmann

The 26-year-old French superstar has been plying his trade in Spain for current club Atletico Madrid, as one of the best attacking phenomenons in world football. Indeed, his goalscoring form for both club and country has put him among the top batch of players in the footballing universe, with 37 goals and 19 assists tallied over the course of this season and the last.
And, he’s been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with bitter rivals Manchester United, although it’s been the light blue half of Manchester that seems to have joined the race for the Frenchman as they go on in the hunt of a replacement for missing out on Alexis Sanchez.
Julian Weigl

The 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder is another one of the German sides exciting prospects breaking through into the first-team, as the youngster has been nothing short of sensational so far this season. Operating as a defensive-midfielder, his dogged approach and tackling ability is something that compliments the long-range passing style the German takes up.
A player that could definitely slot right into the Manchester City side after seeing the brilliance of former Dortmund player Ikay Gundogan, as he fits the Guardiola mould and has been known to admire the midfielder. And, with Fernandinho ageing within the Manchester City side, the German youngster is being eyed up as the long-term replacement for the Brazilian genius when his time has passed at the Etihad.
