United desperately need midfielders this summer, with the retirement of Michael Carrick, the possible free departure of Marouane Fellaini and others. Jose Mourinho needs to bring in players to give the likes of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata a run for their money, as well as finally finding the key to unlocking his world-record Frenchman.

However, United also need to strengthen in other areas too according to our barman, but the possible capture of Victor Wanyama could be the signing of the summer for the Red Devils.

The Spurs man is being used sparingly at the moment after his return from a knee injury and reports are starting to emerge of interest from some of the Premier Leagues big clubs. With that in mind, our landlord has drafted up a two-man shortlist in the bar, of players he thinks should follow Wanyama to Old Trafford in the summer…

Toby Alderweireld

Wanyama’s Spurs team-mate Toby Aldweireld is another player struggling to get game time since his return from injury and the Belgian is well and truly on United’s radar. With the return of Eric Bailly to the defence, Mourinho needs another strong defender to partner him in the centre of the United defence.

Alderweireld is at the peak of his career in terms of his age, and the much-experienced defender could fit the bill Mourinho needs.

Riyad Mahrez

To balance things out slightly in the midfield, many of the punters believe United need a natural right-hand sided winger to even up the left-sided players. Riyad Mahrez has handed in two transfer requests to Leicester City in the past two transfer windows and, is surely angling majorly towards a move away from the King Power Stadium.

Mahrez would bring real Premier league pedigree having won it a few seasons ago, alongside creativity and skills that would light up the Old Trafford crowd.
