There is no doubt that the goalkeeping situation at Manchester City has left their punters in the Transfer Tavern drinking more than they should this year, as they’ve witnessed some absolute howlers from the men between the sticks.
One man Man City fans are begging to return to the Etihad Stadium is Joe Hart. The England No.1 is currently on loan at Torino, but Pep Guardiola seemingly sealed his fate this week when he said he was “happy” with both of the ‘keepers currently in his squad.
This quote has caused some anger and divide across the Man City clan in the Tavern, with a few punters even putting a picture of Guardiola on the dart board, though that seemed a bit of an overreaction to the matter.
Our landlord was also bemused, but not surprised, about Guardiola’s stubbornness on the matter, something that has epitomised his managerial career. However, he does not believe that Pep will stick with Claudio Bravo and Willy Cabellero as his only goalies for his second season in charge.

Ederson
The 23-year-old Brazillian is rumoured to have a £45m release clause in his new contract that was signed earlier on in the season, however, money will never be an issue for the oil-rich Citizens and our landlord believes this move could well materialise in the summer.
Our regular Man City punters in the Tavern have also been impressed by Ederson’s performances in this season’s Champions League and although he could be a pricey option, they will be happy to see a new man between the sticks, especially after Bravo’s shambolic showing so far this season.
Salvatore Sirigu
Sirigu has fallen out of favour at parent club Paris Saint-Germain and is currently on loan away at Osasuna after being frozen out at the Parc des Princes (sound familiar, City fans?). He is in the mould of keeper that Guardiola looks for, making this one interesting.
The most intriguing statistic about Sirigu is that he’s averaged 44 passes-per-90 this term, a trait that surely will catch Guardiola’s. With a decent CV behind him, Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern would not mind seeing the Italian between the sticks for their side next season.
