The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have had to cope with some awful players over the past 10 years…
There is no doubting that Roman Abramovich’s riches have brought some of the best players in world football to Stamford Bridge.
Players with huge pedigrees, like Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard, have come to Stamford Bridge to unabridged success – but for every Didier Drogba; there are more than a few Marko Marins.
There have been a host of overpriced flops come through the doors of Stamford Bridge in the recent years, and it is time to rank them…
With that said, this is definitely the worst Chelsea XI from the past 10 years – Agreed?
GK – Ross Turnbull

Ross Turnbull never really did anything of note at Chelsea, and was always either a 2nd or 3rd choice goalkeeper with the Blues.
He often fell into the shadows behind the mammoth figure of Petr Cech, whom was always Chelsea’s first choice.
He picked up a decent trophy haul at the club – but he was never good enough to man the goal for the Blues.
RB – Jose Bosingwa

Jose Bosingwa has gone down in Tavern folklore as one of the worst players to ever win the Champions League – and it is easy to see why.
The Portuguese defender was decent going forward – but he was calamitous at the back.
Unable to deal with even the most remotely threatening defence.
CB – Papy Djilibodji

(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
Nothing much to say about Djilibodji.
The defender played for Chelsea for all of 2 minutes before fading into obscurity; and he left the Blues fans in the Tavern wondering why he was signed.
The deal made no sense when it happened, and it makes even less sense now.
(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
CB – Khalid Boulahrouz

Khalid Boularouz was a defender, despite being number 9 – though he did very little hard graft at the back.
He was never able to cement himself in the Chelsea first team, and was sent on loan before an eventual sale.
(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
A disastrous deal.
LB – Baba Rahman

A more recent deal comes in the form of Baba Rahman.
(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
The Ghanian came to England with a good reputation, but he saw fit to ruin it during his spell in the capital.
He looked uncomfortable and lacking the quality to be a Premier League left-back – and made the sale of Ryan Bertrand even more difficult to take for the Blues in the Tavern.
RM – Shaun Wright-Phillips

(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
Shaun Wright-Phillips came to Stamford Bridge with a lot of expectation; and he duly failed to deliver on every count.
His spell in London was nothing less than a failure, and he never really hit his stride after his spell in London.
Whether it was the weight of expectation or a lack of talent; Wright-Phillips was an awful signing for Chelsea.
(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
CM – Steve Sidwell

Steve Sidwell’s signing for Chelsea was a low-risk deal – and it still turned out to be a disaster.
Signed on a free, Sidwell never looked capable of making it in Blue, and he was quickly shipped out.
Granted, the Blues did make a profit on him – but if we’re talking about the worst players to wear the shirt; Sidwell has to be in there.
CM – Yossi Benayoun

(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
Yossi Benayoun was a bizarre signing when it happened; and during his spell in London he did very little to prove his worth.
Several loans did very little to help to Israeli international, and though he remains a fan favourite – his lack of talent cannot be ignored.
LM – Marko Marin

(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
Marko Marin was a Chelsea player for years – despite the fact that he only donned the famous Chelsea blue for a single solitary season.
He was injury ridden and simply could not hold down a regular spot – a complete failure.
ST – Radamel Falcao

(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
Falcao’s deal was only a loan deal – but it was still a disaster.
He did not play after October due to injury, and he sat on the sidelines collecting his humungous wages.
Disaster.
(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
ST – Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres won a host of trophies with the Blues, and for a nominal transfer fee he would have been considered a success.
But when his £50m transfer fee is considered; there is no way that you cannot describe the striker as one of the worst to wear the shirt.
For his vast fee, his inability to score and the moments of embarrassment; Torres makes the list.
(function(){var ids=["snack_dex5","snack_dex6"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-d:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})(); (function(){var ids=["snack_mex4","snack_mex5","snack_mex6","snack_mex7"];var els=document.querySelectorAll("div.snack-rpt-m:not([id])");for(var i=0;i<els.length&&i<ids.length;i++){els[i].id=ids[i];}})();
