3-5-2: Guardiola simply must field this Man City XI to absolutely dominate West Brom

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are starting to worry for their team as Pep Guardiola’s men have now gone three Premier League games without a win.

However, any doubts our punters could be put to a rest when they play West Brom this Saturday.

The two games that they have recently dropped points in have been the league ties against an unbeaten Spurs side and a transformed Everton under Ronald Koeman.

Most recently, they drew with a Southampton side on the rise under the tutelage of Claude Puel, a game in which City failed to show their fluid best.

Interestingly, that’s been something they’ve struggled with a lot in recent weeks.

However, the Baggies will try their best to get a point and pose a threat to the title challengers – so they will need their best players to be on the pitch and performing like the world class stars they are.

With that being said, this Man City XI will dominate West Brom on Saturday!

GK: CLAUDIO BRAVO

The Chilean captain has not had the greatest of times at Manchester City after conceding 6 goals in there past 6 league games – not to mention the red card against Barca.

But Pep Guardiola trusts the sweeper keeper to perform to his full ability this season and compared to the likes of Cabellero at City – he is a certain starter in their team.

CB: JOHN STONES

John Stones is one of those players that you have to pick in this starting XI- not only because of his £50 million price tag!

Since arriving at Manchester City from Everton, he has fully cemented himself as a first-team regular.

The 22-year-old has played every game in the Premier League for Guardiola he may have made an error which led to a goal from Redmond last weekend but he’s been all round solid since his arrival.

CB: VINCENT KOMPANY

With the City captain back fit it is hard not to have him in the side.

We know here at the tavern that he will need to get back into the swing of things and we see no reason a game against West Brom shouldn’t be ideal for the Belgian.

The experienced captain is much loved by the City faithful and rightly so for everything he’s done for the club!

With his experience and youth of Stones it could be a title-winning pairing.

CB: ALEKSANDER KOLAROV

Kolarov is probably not everyone’s first choice player in this otherwise star-studded City line-up, but it appears he’s a liked player having featured regularly under Guardiola.

He can do a solid job defensively while also being a threat for set pieces.

Despite having an out and out centre-back in Otamendi- he should be able to do the job that Pep will want him to do.

LM: LEROY SANE

The 20-year-old had to wait to get his chance by he looked at home in the Southampton game this last Sunday.

His ability to take defenders on will cause problems for an ageing back line at West Brom.

He knew where the goal was in the Bundesliga and it is only a matter of time before he finds it in the Premier League… Maybe against West Brom?

CM: FERNANDINHO

Fernandinho looks like a different player under Pep Guardiola.

The Brazilian midfielder has become an anchorman under Pep, dropping back and allowing the full-backs to play more offensively.

Despite the fact he may have made an error for Barcelona’s goal in the Champions League last week- he is still a changed man and looking better game on game under Guardiola.

CM: ILKAY GUNDOGAN

The former Dortmund man has been a quality addition to City midfield and with his ability to push up as well as get back and help the defence makes him an all-round solid midfielder.

Due to injuries, he missed the start of the season after completing his reasonably cheap switch from Dortmund – what a bargain he could prove to be under Guardiola .

RM: RAHEEM STERLING

After and awful Euro 2016 many felt his days at City were numbered and he’d be a bench warmer come the start of the season.

However like Fernandinho, Sterling also looks like a man transformed thanks to Pep Guardiola.

This season he has proven that he is worth the money City forked out for him- not only that he also has an eye for goal with 4 goals and 3 assists in 9 league games.

CAM: KEVIN DE BRUYNE

Chelsea have a habit of signing loads of young talent and loaning them out and eventually selling them.

This could be their biggest regret letting a gem like De Bruyne slip through the cracks, went to the Bundesliga and arrived at Manchester City a world class player.

So far, Kevin De Bruyne has proven vital in assisting those around him and this will cause so many problems for the West Brom defence and midfield.

CAM: DAVID SILVA

Despite featuring further back in the earlier Guardiola games- it’s abundantly clear Silva poses a threat further forward.

Against Southampton, Silva was an attacking threat  and his ability to connect the midfield to the attacker is second to none.

Silva has been a hero for a number of years now yet seems to be in the shadows a bit when it comes to plaudits- but he’s one of their star men.

ST: SERGIO AGUERO

Leading the line for City is Agüero and when fully fit he can be one of the most dangerous strikers in the world!

Kelechi Iheanacho will no doubt get a cameo in the game but despite being dropped against Barca, the Argentine is City’s main man up top.

Overall the Argentine has 11 goals in  10 games and he will be City’s main focal point when it comes to getting the goals on Saturday against a very reluctant to concede Baggies side.
