With Antonio Conte now in charge at Chelsea, fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a wealth of new faces to arrive at the Bridge next summer.

Change is definitely needed, with the club looking to rebuild after a very disappointing season last year, failing to capitalise on a title winning campaign the year prior.

With Mourinho and Hiddink now gone, Conte will be able to stamp his own mark on his new side, and we expect a number of changes for next season.

We do also think a number of players will retain their places in the side, giving the first eleven a real mix of experience and exciting new talent.

Here is the Chelsea XI that would WIN Premier League next season……

GK: Thibaut Courtois

Starting off with a bit of an obvious one; it is ESSENTIAL that Chelsea hold on to Thibaut Courtois next season.

His Chelsea career has been up and down so far, suffering from injury and inconsistency; but there is no doubting the Belgian’s quality.

He is without doubt the best young goalkeeper in European football, and if Chelsea are looking to regain their spot at the top of the English pile, they must begin at the back.

The fact that the club sold Cech in order to facilitate his position as number one keeper proves that the club want to hold on to the Belgian; now it is up to him to repay that trust and stay at the club in the years to come.

Central Defence – Kurt Zouma and Leonardo Bonucci

The Chelsea defense last season was disappointing to say the least, and so some change is definitely needed.

The addition of Leonardo Bonucci, who has proven himself as one of Europe’s best defenders, will bring stability and defensive prowess to the back line, and with Kurt Zouma expected to return at the end of the year; they could form an unstoppable central defensive pairing.

A small addition in Bonucci and the return of Kurt Zouma will bring the best back out of this Chelsea back line.

Full Backs – Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta

We expect the Chelsea left and right back positions to remain the same going in to next season.

Branislav Ivanovic is a divisive figure amongst fans here at the Tavern, but bar a short spell last summer; he has been consistent in the Chelsea defense.

Now that the Stephan Lichsteiner rumours have died down, very few other players would be able to compete with Ivanovic at right back in terms of his defensive quality and his ability going forward.

Cesar Azpilicueta is an obvious one, perhaps the most consistent Chelsea player. Many fans would prefer to see him on the right, but he has proven he is just as good on the left hand side; and has even admitted himself that he likes to play there.

Central Midfield – Paul Pogba and Radja Nainggolan

Whilst the Chelsea defence was largely familiar; the central midfield pairing certainly isn’t.

Paul Pogba is the most sought after player in world football, and if Chelsea were to capture him he could command that midfield for the years to come.

Pogba’s technical ability is contrasted with Nainggolan; a no nonsense ball winning midfielder that would command the Chelsea defence, releasing balls forward for Pogba.

This would of course mean the end of a first team place for Nemanja Matic, who seems likely to exit the Bridge this summer. Not a bad replacement in these two international midfielders though!

Attacking Midfield – Eden Hazard, Willian, Cesc Fabregas

More familiarity fronts the Chelsea attack, with Eden Hazard and Willian retaining their places on each side of the Chelsea attacking trio.

Willian was unstoppable last year, so his place is certainly merited. Eden Hazard’s future has been slightly more murky, with a very disappointing campaign behind him and rumours over his future circulating around the tavern. He has since come out to state that his future remains at Chelsea however, and we expect him to be back to his best next season.

The one change comes in the form of Cesc Fabregas, who has been pushed up the field from the pivot to the number ten position.

Fabregas’ defensive ability was a weak spot in the Chelsea side last season, and teams looked to explot it.

With players that are stronger defensively now positioned behind him; Fabregas would be able to push on and be more attacking in the number 10 position, leaving Oscar on the bench.

ST: Diego Costa

Diego Costa is a divisive figure, with many fans questioning his ability and attitude. But what you can’t question is his commitment.

Many Chelsea players looked like they could not be bothered last season, but Costa always looked like he cared, which has endeared him to many Chelsea fans.

He, like Hazard, had a bit of a poor season last summer, suffering with injuries and inconsistency. However, after a summer off, we expect him to come back rejuvenated next season – ready to catapult himself back to the top of the goal scoring chart.

Rumours persisted over his future earlier in the window, but they have now slowed down; and we expect the Spaniard to remain with the club this summer, and play a staring role next season.
