3 players Everton should look to re-sign in January – Agreed?

Everton have got off to quite the impressive start this season – and the Toffees in the Transfer Tavern are loving it.

An unbeaten run of five games came to an abrupt end against Bournemouth but many feel they’ve seen enough to suggest they can compete at the higher end of the table – with European spots a definite possibility.

Ronald Koeman has had a great start in his new role since coming from Southampton and you have to say a big part of that is due to his new signings. Idrissa Gueye, Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie have all had solid starts to their Everton careers, and the fans will be keen for them to continue.

Come January, the club could be in a really strong position and may want to strengthen the squad more to really kick on.

Our landlord reckons they will, and he thinks that thinks these three former stars should be on their shopping list…

Wayne Rooney

Why not? The troubles he’s had at Manchester United have been well documented recently and he might just jump at the chance of returning home to complete the circle of his career.

Everton could afford to do the deal too with their new owners – so you have to say on the face of it it looks like quite a plausible deal.

Leon Osman

There’s a worrying lack of local senior players at both Everton and their Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

When you look at both team’s regular starters only Ross Barkley and arguably Leighton Baines come into the equation and that’s not ideal for two proud clubs.

Everton let Osman go in the summer deeming him not good enough – but he knows exactly what the club are about and they should try and get him back.

Adam Forshaw

The Toffees let Forshaw go a few years ago to Brentford so he could further his career and he’s certainly done so.

Now in the Premier League with Middlesbrough, he looks a very accomplished midfield player – and would be a more than good enough asset to help bolster the Toffees squad as they look to kick on up the table this season.
