Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stock keeps on rising. With nine wins and one draw in his first ten games as Manchester United interim manager, the Norwegian’s won over everyone’s trust it seems.
However, Ed Woodward might want to take things slowly on the managerial front, considering the state of the Old Trafford dugout since the retirement of a certain Scotsman.
Still, with Mauricio Pochettino allegedly (via the Express) his priority, Solskjaer could be forced to leave after May, despite all the fun he’s currently having. Certainly, this will impact the performance-level of certain players who’ve bloomed under him.
Here, we look at three of them.
Ander Herrera
The wily Spaniard’s started almost every game under Solskjaer’s, whose appreciated his hard-working talent. Herrera’s been superb under him, helping United’s midfield with his energetic presence and also adding creativity in attack. However, if another manager comes in, he could again go down the preference ladder. If Solsjkaer’s successor wants a change in the system, Herrera could be forced to tweak his game, impacting his performance-level.
Paul Pogba
After a dismal period under Mourinho, Pogba’s true potential has been unearthed by Solsjkaer. Once his youth-team manager, the fact that Pogba’s scored six goals and delivered five assists in nine appearances proves how he’s blossomed under Ole. If the next manager forces him to tweak his game and give him less freedom, Pogba’s momentum could dip again, forcing him to think about moving elsewhere.
Marcus Rashford
The Manchester-born lad is thriving under Solskjaer’s guidance. With the Norwegian always giving him tips on how to improve his goal-scoring ability and encouraging him to go forward, Rashford’s truly come off age. That being said, if Solsjaer’s successor moves him to out wide again and prefers Romelu Lukaku down the middle, Rashford’s form could be hampered.
