When a fan base decide that they don’t like a player, even the most impressive of statistics won’t stop them from hurling abuse at some of their own players. In this case, it’s the Elland Road faithful who have been slating Ezgjan Alioski, despite the fact he ranks 3rd in the Championship for the most key passes, behind only Oliver Norwood and Bersant Celina.

Alioski gets a lot of stick from the fans and whilst a lot of it is undeserved, it hasn’t stopped him from doing his best to help his side every single time he pulls on the Leeds United shirt. The Macedonian midfielder has already contributed three goals and three assists in the Championship this season and his creative abilities from out wide are appreciated by Marcelo Bielsa if nothing else.
A lot of fans have been getting on the winger’s back, claiming that given his stat for key passing has him right up there amongst the most creative players in the Championship, they should stop judging players on just stats. The 26-year-old will be key to any promotion push that Bielsa can mastermind, and whether the fans like it or not, they’ll have to stop slating their man and get behind Alioski and the rest of the team.
Despite all of that, you can read The Whites’ comments on Alioski here:
Where does he rank for # of offsides?

Why you should never judge a player on stats alone

That will confuse the haters

If this isn’t a good enough reason never to trust stats, I don’t know what is.

The Whites are always quick to slate Alioski and will hope that the winger can improve, despite his already impressive stat for key passing.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
