So with the season nearly over and us all beginning to sum up how our side’s performances were over the campaign we will be looking towards EURO 2016.
But of course we’re not going to be on about that the theme today is emotional players, players who can’t hide their feelings after a game or after a decision has gone against them and they just lose all control and start crying.
No one will forget Paul Gascoigne breaking down in tears after receiving a yellow card that would rule him out of the World Cup final in 1990 against Germany.
But this XI is to honour the anniversary of Luis Suarez breaking down following Liverpool’s draw at Crystal Palace to blow their hopes of winning the Premier League a couple of seasons ago.
So our landlord here in The Transfer Tavern has been going through the archives and come up with a compilation of XI players who have broken down in tears on the pitch……

Steve Harper
The Newcastle goalkeeper broke down during a game against Arsenal in his final season at the club.
In the 37th minute the fans paid tribute to Harper and he could not control himself, and broke down in tears as the emotion of the moment caught up with him.
Pele
Even the greatest players let there emotions get to them and break down in tears when you least expect it.
Following an impressive performance in the World Cup in 1958, Pele broke down on shoulder of fellow countryman Didi.
John Terry
Big hard central defender in tears can’t be right especially as he is known for his confidence and lack of emotion.
But even John Terry couldn’t hold back the tears following Chelsea’s penalty shoot out defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League final a few years back especially as he was one of the players who missed from the spot.
Emmanuel Eboue
The Ivory Coast international broke down in tears following a poor substitute appearance for Arsenal in front of his own fans at the Emirates.
Everything Eboue seemed to do in the game against Wigan Athletic seemed to go wrong for him and once the fans starting booing him every time he touched the ball, he could not help but let the tears flow.
Francesco Totti
No XI cry baby compilation would be complete without an emotional Italian included.
Totti burst into tears following Italy’s heart breaking EURO 2000 final defeat at the hands of tournament hosts France.
David Seaman
Who said big Yorkshiremen don’t show emotion, David Seaman certainly did in 1991.
Following Arsenal’s FA Cup Semi Final defeat to rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Seaman was clearly inconsolable.
He was pictured in tears being comforted by David Rocastle and then physio Gary Lewin.
William Gallas
Looking at the former Arsenal and Chelsea central defender you wouldn’t think you would ever catch him crying.
But this wasn’t the case back in 2005 he just hide emotions after his side lost their Champions League Semi Final at the hands of Liverpool who would go on and clinch the Champions League in a thrilling final against AC Milan.
Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portugese forward has always been emotional and this was clear to see when he lost an FA Cup Final whilst playing for Manchester United.
Manchester United had just lost to Arsenal in the 2005 tournament and he was pictured being consoled by Wayne Rooney as Arsenal were receiving the famous old trophy.
Carsten Janker
The Bayern Munich player was a mess following his side’s European Cup final defeat to Manchester United in 1999.
His side looked home and dry going into to stoppage at 1-0 up but up stepped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham to score twice in stoppage time and take the trophy away from Munich.
Paul Gascoigne
An image of Gazza that is world renowned is the picture of him in tears at the World Cup in Italy in 1990.
Gazza was booked during the game against West Germany in the Semi Final which meant he would miss the final were England to make it.
As soon as he recieved the booking he broke down in tears and sobbed uncontrollably unfortunately for England they lost via a penalty shoot out.
Luis Suarez
After all this article is about the emotional Uruguayan international so he had to be included.
Liverpool were on the verge of winning their first title for many a year but a defeat to Chelsea and a draw against Crystal Palace ended their hopes, and Suarez could not hide his emotions following the game at Selhurst Park and burst into tears.
