Chelsea and Tottenham have enjoyed differing levels of success so far on deadline day…
Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Serge Aurier, whilst a move for Chelsea target Fernando Llorente is also looking increasingly likely.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have been unsuccessful – with a seemingly failed move for Llorente the only major point of their movement today.
However, it doesn’t appear as though their transfer rivalry is over quite yet, given that L’Equipe is reporting that both sides are keen on a move for a certain midfielder. According to L’Equipe, both Chelsea and Tottenham are keen on Riyad Mahrez, whose future at Leicester City has been uncertain as of late.
Mahrez is, of course, well known around these parts – having taken the Premier League by storm for Leicester since arriving.
A talented playmaker, he could offer both sides a real creative outlet going forward – and he could be just what each side needs to turn a decent window into a great one.
Landlord’s Verdict
It’s been a surprise that Riyad Mahrez hasn’t been one of the Premier League’s most in-demand players, but that is seemingly going to change today.
On his day, there is arguably nobody better in England, and it appears as though both the teams are well aware of that.
Any move will demand a massive fee, that much is certain, but he will be worth every penny.
Both sides need to bring in more depth, and they don’t come much better than Mahrez.
